The Social Network (2010) Dir. David Fincher

Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake and Armie Hammer

Suspicions Confirmed.  Hopes Expanded.  Anticipation Increased.

This is the year Leonardo DiCaprio gets his fucking Oscar.

This is the trailer for Steve McQueen’s new film “Shame” starring Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan.  Fassbender won best actor at the Venice Film Festival.

I Will See It 10 Times!!!!

This film actually looks really great.  I’m most excited for Charlize Theron as the Wicked Witch.

Snow White And The Huntsman gets a visually stunning trailer
Universal has released the first official trailer for Rupert Sanders’ fairytale reimagining Snow White And The Huntsman, and it’s probably the most visually arresting teaser we’ve seen all year.As the pumping electro soundtrack kicks in, it’s clear from the off that this is going to be a heavily stylised version of the classic fairy story, with the film’s modern-Gothic aesthetic announced through a spectacular, dissembling flock of ravens. Many of the ancient yarn’s classic details appear to be intact, but are presented with such verve that they feel genuinely fresh, the anthropomorphised magic mirror an eye-catching case in point.[FOR THE FULL STORY, CLICK ON KRISTEN OR FOLLOW THIS LINK]

Trailer for “The Iron Lady” starring Queen Meryl Streep.  I’m optimistic about the film.  Obviously Meryl Streep will be fantastic in the film.  And I’m curious to see a film about Margaret Thatcher.  Yet, the beginning of the trailer is a bit unbearable with the “Prime Minister Makeover” of Thatcher.  The later parts of her in government look quite good.  Another Best Actress contender to consider in an already vibrant field of female performances.

Trailer: Steven Soderbergh’s SIDE EFFECTS

supposedly Soderbergh’s last theatrical film before his retirement (which i still refuse to believe), Side Effects doesn’t exactly look like the most fitting swan-song.

sure, it’s very much in line with his recent output, combining the stuff of Contagion (a Scott Z. Burns script) with that of Magic Mike (Channing Tatum) for a pharmacological thriller that promises to be immaculately crafted, but still looks sort of… thin. sexy, but thin. sort of like Rooney Mara. but hey, i love when Soderbergh shoots in NYC.

PLEASE DON’T LEAVE USSSSS…

Side Effects hits theaters on 2/8/2013.

I think this film will give me nightmares.

Soderbergh, please never leave me.  Don’t RETIRE!

First Trailer for David O. Russell’s American Hustle.  Opens Christmas Day.

I’ve been a fan of Russell’s work since Flirting With Disaster.  His films perfectly explore the dynamics within clans, whether they be colorful families like in The Fighter or folks brought together by food, football, and love in Silver Linings Playbook.  With this ensemble cast (Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence, and Jeremy Renner), period looks (hello Best Hair/Makeup award), and a guaranteed awesome soundtrack, it’s going to be an groovy Christmas.
